Her works are vibrant - not afraid of light, they call to you from across a room. The colors are big - the subjects worth study.
Born in New York City to a Cuban father and an Irish mother, Mera has seen much of life. She has traveled widely, frequenting Paris, London, New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Philadelphia. Her work is heavily influenced by the French masters, particularly Lautrec.
Mera's work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and is in many collections world-wide. Her mediums include oil, linoleum cuts, silk screen and sculpture. Also an accomplished jazz musician, Mera has succeeded in incorparating this art form into her work. Scenes of famous jazz clubs and musicians clutter her studio.
Select the image above to see our collection of Mera's original oil paintings. We will soon add a new section containing the Jazz Suite, a wonderful limited edition series of 21 linoleum prints which was used to illustrate For Jazz, a book of sonnets by Peter McSloy for and about the jazz greats of our time.
You can take a walking tour through the Jazz & Blues Wing or the Contemporary Art Wing, or you can take a shortcut to see the work of all the artists in the gallery. These paintings are available for purchase from The Electric Gallery. Ask us for a shipping quote, or gove us your other comments on our presentation.
